Steve Madden boutique design by EXD Architecture

Steve Madden Boutique Design

Along with the flagship store, we also designed Steve Madden’s Boutique Design on the Upper East Side as a ‘prototype’ for only women’s shoes sales.

The challenge here was to design a shoe store for women in an exceedingly long and narrow space.

Following the client’s request, we designed a sexy space with a sensual feel, to target the female sensitivity and the love for shoes.  The goal was to create an environment where women entering the store would feel beautiful and want to try on shoes, increasing purchase sales.

We provided a multi layered experience, with different settings for merchandise display: a welcoming area at the entrance with curved wall and oval table display, then an LED lighted custom acrylic shelving opposed to a curved display wall that converted into an upholstered bench.

At the end, perpendicular to the oval Cashwrap and floating sunglasses display, we placed a full height a mirror that duplicated the store and create a runway illusion, to empower women to feel as top models do.

This prototype store focused on women, and as a result, the location was designed as an embodiment of femininity. The simple geometric forms provided a luxurious atmosphere, while the curves and pink hues gave it a sensual feel.  Lighting was especially designed to enhance the beauty of the shoes.  Post renovation, sales doubled from the previous year.
